Many New Yorkers carried about their mornings Christmas Day despite the below freezing temperatures outside.
The brutal cold is the chilliest Christmas the area has seen since the year 2000. 
As the temperature remains below freezing, many utility companies including Con Edison and National Grid are asking New Yorkers to keep their thermostats down due to demand in usage.
