The city's half-price Metro Card program 'Fair Fares' is exciting New Yorkers ahead of its full rollout in January.
With over 89,000 enrolled, the Grassroots Rider Alliance looks to help those New Yorkers who live below the federal poverty line. Their work through the Fair Fares program has helped over 75% of its users with saving money, paying their bills and the ability to seek new job opportunities.
Reports say Mayor Bill de Blasio has pledged to reduce transit fares to those New Yorkers living below the poverty line this January.
