3h agoThe Brooklyn Half-Marathon is on May 20, and on Thursday runners kicked off the celebrations with the Royal Bank of Canada's Brooklyn Half Pre-Party.
Runners came to collect their bibs and celebrate before the big race, with some practicing their finish line smiles ahead of the 13.1 mile run.
"It's a part people start in Prospect Park, they run half the race in the park," said Rob Simmelkjaer, CEO of New York Road Runners. "Then they head down to Ocean Parkway and finish at Coney Island on the beach, the weekend before Memorial Day... it's a pretty special event."
The race kicks off at 7 a.m. this Saturday, and New York Road Runners says 26,000 runners will be coming out.
