Newark Mayor Ras Baraka has signed an executive order making some updates to the city’s COVID-19 rules.
The order extends the city’s indoor mask mandate through the end of the month. But proof of vaccination is no longer required at most indoor locations. The only time proof of vaccination will be required is to attend events with 250 or more people.
“The data shows that we are making tremendous progress…However, we are not at the end of the pandemic, therefore we need to remain vigilant to stay on this path of progress. Continue wearing your masks and get vaccinated, as another form of protection,” Baraka said in a statement.
The mayor says that the city will reevaluate the orders on Feb. 28.
