NJ State Police dismantle ‘UFO detector’ found in Wharton State Forest
New Jersey State Police say that they have dismantled a “UFO Detector Site” found in Wharton State Forest in Tabernacle Township.
Police were called when a suspicious device was found in the woods. An explosive-detecting K-9 officer, named Prime, was called in and found that the device was harmless.
“The device was carefully ‘disarmed’ by NJ State Park Police personnel by unplugging the headphone wire from the block of wood and the soup can it was plugged into,” a spokesperson for the state police said in a statement.
The spokesman said that while the people of New Jersey “appreciate an extra-terrestrial early warning device like this, we should not be finding them in our State Parks.”
Anyone who finds any suspicious items in state parks should contact State Park Police at 1-877-WARN-DEP.
