2ds agoA woman from Somerset County accused of driving through pedestrians at a Manhattan intersection Sunday night has been charged with attempted murder.
Police say Imani Lucas, 29, drove through a red light at the intersection of West 36th Street near Sixth Avenue and hit six men and one woman.
Lucas, from the Belle Mead section of Montgomery Township, currently resides in Manhattan. In addition to attempted murder, she is also being charged with assault, reckless endangerment, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident with serious injuries.
Police sources told News 12 Lucas told authorities that she prayed to God and closed her eyes as she ran the red light. She did not stop after the crash, according to the police.
Authorities say Lucas got into another crash involving three vehicles on the Long Island Expressway.
