A non-profit group is coming to the aid of the family of 7-year-old Nixzmary Brown, who was found beaten to death in her Brooklyn apartment almost a week ago.
Emergency Rights, a Bronx non-profit organization, is helping to pay for Nixzmary's funeral and burial costs. Dozens of strangers have donated to the funeral fund in order to give the child abuse victim a proper burial.
Nixzmary's stepfather and mother have been indicted on numerous charges in connection with her death. Her stepfather, Cesar Rodriguez, is accused of binding, beating and molesting her. He is charged with second-degree murder, sex abuse and child endangerment. Nixzmary's mother, Nixzaliz Santiago, is also charged with second-degree murder and child endangerment.
