The non-resident tuition amnesty program ends Tuesday for Department of Education (DOE) employees in Brooklyn and the city.
Under the one-month program, non-resident DOE employees who sent their children to public schools without paying tuition could come forward without facing punishment. Employees who came forward from February 21 to March 21 will now have to pay back the tuition they owe and properly register their children.
The Special Commissioner for Investigation (SCI) has agreed not to investigate participants in the program, and the DOE won?t seek disciplinary charges against them. The DOE will be keeping the identities of participants confidential.
