Some New York City nonprofits gathered Sundaat the P.S. 217 Playground in Flatbush to giveaway some essential items to asylum seekers.

The Masbia Relief Team joined with other neighborhood organizations to distribute various items to newly arrived asylum seekers. The playground is down the block from Best Western Prospect Park, a hotel that was very recently taken over by the city to house migrant families with children.

Masbia Soup Kitchen says they recently noticed an uptick in people visiting their Flatbush soup kitchen.

Organizers say more than 100 people showed to the giveaway and they hope to hold more events soon.
