A New York nonprofit focused on supporting veterans, first responders and their families has completed renovations on slain NYPD Detective Wenjian Liu's home in Gravesend.

The Stephen Siller Tunnel To Towers Foundation -- named in honor of a firefighter who died in the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks -- raised money to pay off the mortgages for Liu and his partner, Detective Rafael Ramos.

The organization raised so much money that it had enough left to fully renovate the officers' homes for their families. It unveiled the $100,000 renovations on Liu's home Tuesday afternoon.

Liu's family, still reeling from his loss, thanked the organization for its help.

"My family's so touched by all the love and support we have received," said Pei Xia Chen, Liu's widow. "To everyone who contributed to this foundation, it means so much to our family and many families."

Work on Ramos' home is underway.

Both officers were fatally shot while on duty in Brooklyn last December.

Tunnels To Towers is also raising money to pay off the home of a police officer who was shot and killed while pumping gas in Texas last Friday.
