The Muslim holiday of Ramadan has come to an end, meaning a month of fasting from sunrise to sunset is now over.
Friday marks Eid Al-Fitr, which is a remembrance of when Islam's prophet, Muhammad, revealed its holy book, the Quran.
And this year's holiday is the first since Mayor Bill de Blasio added Muslim holidays to the list of official New York City holidays.
Observers say that children no longer have to choose between attending school or attending Eid prayers.
