New York City Deputy Mayor of Public Safety Phil Banks has resigned.
Mayor Eric Adams confirmed the announcement during a televised interview on NY1.
Banks, who had become deputy mayor for public safety in 2022, is the latest member of Adams' inner circle to resign after he was indicted on federal charges last week.
He joined First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright and his brother, David Banks, who is stepping down as NYC Schools chancellor, next week.
Banks' home was raided by federal authorities last month.
Banks was the NYPD's chief of department from 2013 to 2014.
