Parents who filed a lawsuit earlier this year calling for five days a week of in-person learning had their day in court on Wednesday. 

The big question is if it's safe for students to return to school for in-person learning. Earlier this week, News 12 heard from parents in a rally who felt remote learning should still be an option.

On Wednesday, a hearing focused on parents who are demanding full in-person learning five days a week. The lawsuit was funded by more than 300 donations, and parents testified and provided examples of "irreparable harm" that was done to their children academically, mentally and emotionally.

Testimonials from experts on epidemiology, infectious disease mental health and much more were also shared during the hearing on Wednesday.

Organizers say that schools are not a driver of the transmission, and in-person learning is essential.

Meanwhile, a rally held in Manhattan Monday demanded the opposite calling for remote learning to be an option for the upcoming school year. The parents in attendance, mostly from the Bronx, said with the delta variant on the rise and with less than half of the Bronx fully vaccinated, they feel that it's not safe to send students back to school.
