New York City Department of Sanitation Commissioner, Jessica Tisch, says 250 illegal dumping cameras were installed across the city this summer in an effort to clean up the city.

Tisch says people who are caught on camera dumping trash illegally in our communities will be given a $4,000 summons and will have their vehicles impounded.

The corridor of Park Avenue between 186th and 187th streets is one of the areas that have struggled with illegal dumping. City Council Member Oswald Feliz and Assemblywoman Yudelka Tapia say they've fought for illegal dumpers in this Belmont neighborhood to be held accountable and are pleased it's now under surveillance.

The Department of Sanitation says the city will not be disclosing the exact locations of the illegal dumping cameras. Tisch warned that New Yorkers can expect a dumping camera on any street corner.
