Hundreds of public school students across New York City got the chance to see the Broadway hit "Hamilton" on Wednesday.
The special performance was part of a collaboration between the city's Department of Education, the Rockefeller Foundation and the Gilder Leherman Institute to provide a Broadway show entirely dedicated to a student audience.
Wednesday's matinee was the first of numerous performances for which students will only pay $10 for tickets that typically sell for hundreds of dollars.
Students say the best part of the experience, aside from meeting with the show's cast, was having the opportunity to perform on stage. More than a dozen students belted out their own lyrics for fellow classmates and the cast members.
