NYCHA is pushing to have more professionals open shop inside public housing facilities.
The Housing Authority says the move will help raise much-needed revenue.
One such professional is Dr. James Kim, who operates a glasses store at the Williamsburg Houses. He says his rent is cheaper than it would be elsewhere, and he is able to serve the surrounding community because he accepts most types of insurance.
Residents say that they appreciate having services nearby, but would like to see more NYCHA residents working for employers like Kim.
