Police say three students were robbed on Wednesday morning just steps from their own school.
The three students were robbed outside of Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health & Science Charter School just before 10:30 a.m., according to the NYPD. Police say it is not yet clear what was stolen from students or if a weapon was involved.
Dismissal at the school proceeded as usual, but parents told News 12 they were stunned to hear about the crime.
“This is something we all have to take accountability on altogether as a community,” said neighbor Mark Coleman. “We’ve been saying this for decades. At the end of the day, we have to try to come together and get a hand on what’s going on, especially with kids.”
News 12 has requested a statement from the city’s Department of Education and is awaiting a response.
At this hour, police say no arrests have been made.
