The three victims left in critical condition following a two-alarm fire are stable, according to police. The NYPD confirming the ages of the victims: a 5-month-old boy, a 5-year-old boy, and a 42-year-old man.
Sources said they were found unconscious on the third floor.
Fire officials say 16 people were injured in total, including six firefighters.
About 106 emergency personnel were on scene battling the blaze.
Residents told News 12 the smoke was so think they couldn't exit the stairwells. Citizen App video shows people being evacuated by fire escape.
News 12's crews went inside the building, witnessing the second and third floor completely destroyed.
Some residents reported the fire alarms didn't go off in the hallways or in their apartments.
The Red Cross was on the scene assisting two displaced families. News 12 spoke with one of them, who said his family has nothing left.
"I have three kids. They were crying, they were scared. I got nothing... They got no shoes, it was cold weather. They had to go out without their clothes and everything," said resident Farhan Ali.
Some residents speculated a space heater was to blame for the blaze. According to the fire marshal, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
