A terminally ill Arizona teenager who touched the hearts of Americans across the country is in Brooklyn thanks to the NYPD.
Jacob Priestley, a 14-year-old who has a rare disease that attacks every cell in his body, received an outpouring of support when all he asked for was birthday cards for his birthday.
He eventually got around 10,000 cards, with many coming from the NYPD. The commanding officer of Brooklyn North, Assistant Chief Jeffrey Maddrey, asked all of his officers to send one.
Now Priestley is even getting a taste of the Big Apple that includes trips to the Freedom Tower and Barclays Center. He also got meet-and-greets with the New York Islanders and Borough President Eric Adams.
There's one more thing on Priestley's wish list though -- a visit to the Statue of Liberty. His family is in town until Saturday.
