The man suspected in at least two robberies and a rape in Coney Island has been arrested, according to police.
Police from the 60th Precinct arrested Raji Wilson around 8 a.m. Wednesday. The NYPD's Special Victims Unit has questioned him in Crown Heights for much of the day.
Police had earlier identified the 31-year-old Wilson as the suspect who they said raped a 20-year-old woman after following her into a Luna Park Houses elevator around 9 p.m. Sunday.
They accused him of brandishing a gun and forcing the victim into a stairwell, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her before stealing her keys and money. The victim was taken to Coney Island Hospital for evaluation.
Police also suspected Wilson in a nearby robbery. They said he entered another building in the Luna Park complex, got into an elevator with another woman, and stole her purse at gunpoint.
Surveillance video at the buildings helped police identify and apprehend Wilson, according to officials.
According to investigators, Wilson was arrested on burglary charges in 2002 and was identified by one of the victims of the elevator robberies from an array of pictures.
