NYPD: Dead man found in Central Park was a Brooklyn resident

Police believe the wounds could have been self-inflicted because a bloody knife was found in the victim's pocket.

Police say the man who was found dead in Central Park on Monday has been identified as a Brooklyn resident.

According to investigators, a Central Park conservancy employee found Ian Stapp, 37, unresponsive at around 8:30 a.m. He was pronounced dead shortly after.


Police believe the wounds could have been self-inflicted because a bloody knife was found in the victim's pocket. The medical examiner has yet to determine the exact cause of death.
