NYPD: DOE teacher arrested for striking student in class

A teacher was arrested while on duty for hitting a student in class after getting into an altercation, according to the NYPD.
Law enforcement officials say that 40-year-old David Moore, a Department of Education teacher, now faces charges of assault, disorderly conduct, and harassment.
Police say the student was cursing at a teacher, and a verbal dispute involving Moore escalated. Moore then struck the victim in the rib with a closed fist.
Moore is now in NYPD custody in the 45th Precinct.
