A helicopter made an emergency landing Thursday afternoon at Floyd Bennett Field, according to police.
Detectives say it happened shortly after 3:30 p.m.
Both the pilot and passenger made it out safely and were not injured.
The FDNY says mechanical issues prompted the emergency landing.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson Donnell Evans issued the following statement:
"A Bell 407 helicopter landed safely at Floyd Bennett Field in New York around 3:20 p.m. local time on Thursday, June 5. The aircraft registration number (N-number) is N92N. You can search it here. The FAA will investigate. Please ask local authorities for additional information."
The aircraft was owned by Helicopters Inc., a large company with more than 200 helicopters nationwide.
