Police released the identity of a man whose body was found in Newtown Creek in Northern Bushwick on July 28 right near multiple late night spots.
Police say 30-year-old Damani Alexander, of East New York, is now the third man to have been found in that river after partying in the area.
Authorities say Alexander was last seen leaving the Knockdown Center in Queens before he was found in the creek.
In 2023, John Castic and Karl Clemente were both last seen leaving the Brooklyn Mirage just a short walk from where they were ultimately found in that creek.
Concertgoers nearby St. Elsewhere club told News 12 the pattern has them unnerved. They are warning their male friends to be more alert when in the area.
"Never be out here alone, even if it's a smoke break, takesomeone, and double triple checking Ubers which is something every woman I know already does," said concertgoer Vandana Pawa.
Pawa said she would rate her and her friend's safety in the area at a 5 out of 10.
"It's not a residential area, there are no businesses, so when you walk out, it'sjust dark, compared to the club you just walked out of," she said, adding that her and her friends now only go out in groups to help feel safer.
They said they have also noticed increased security inside of the St. Elsewhere venue this year.
"You see more security on the floor, in the areas with people in addition to outside doing the I.D. checks," she said.
News 12 reached out to Avante Gardender, the group behind the Brooklyn Mirage on if additional safety steps were being taken but had not heard back as of Saturday night.
