Police have arrested and charged a 40-year-old man in connection to an assault that took place in Chelsea.
Skiboky Stora, 40, is accused of hitting a 23-year-old woman on Monday morning.
The attack took place at the corner of West 16th Street and Seventh Avenue.
A 23-year-old female reported being struck in the head, causing her to fall to the ground and sustain injuries to the left side of her face.
This arrest comes as the NYPD is currently probing a series of alarming reports detailing random assaults on women across the borough. Some alleged victims have resorted to sharing their experiences on the social media platform TikTok, shedding light on the severity of the situation.
The investigations are ongoing into other related incidents that have garnered reaction from people on social media.
Just a week prior, on March 17, another woman, aged 25, reported being punched in the head while walking her dog in the Little Italy neighborhood near Kenmare and Mulberry streets, also during the morning hours.
These incidents have sparked an influx of reports flooding TikTok, with women recounting their stories. Their hope is that by increasing awareness, they can contribute to preventing future assaults.
