Police are investigating multiple unrelated violent incidents, including the death of a 51-year-old man in Brooklyn.
Authorities say the incidents happened within a few hours of each other Monday night near the route of the Caribbean Carnival Parade.
According to the NYPD, a man was shot multiples times at around 9 p.m. near the corner of Sterling Place and Schenectady Avenue. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A few hours earlier at around 5:30 p.m., a fight broke out on Eastern Parkway and Rochester Avenue. Officials say a 19-year-old man was shot, a 16-year-old was stabbed in the leg and a 20-year-old man was slashes. None were seriously injured.
Over on Maple Avenue, a man in his 50s was slashed in the wrist at around 9:30 p.m. He was listed in critical condition and the suspect is on the loose.
Police say the incidents appear to be unrelated.
