Police are continuing their investigation into a gruesome scene in East Flatbush where the NYPD says a 37-year-old woman, a 14-year-old girl and a dog were found dead inside of an apartment neighbors say they recently moved into.
One neighbor says she remembers what she thinks was mother and daughter moving in three weeks ago. She says she heard screaming from that apartment on Monday before calling 911.
According to residents in the area, police showed up on Friday to the building at 1296 New York Ave. before showing up a second time on Monday for a wellness check, to which they found the fatal scene.
Law enforcement says the dog was found dead with a bag over its head, and that the 37-year-old and 14-year-old both suffered stab wounds.
“We noticed they would make banging noises, but we thought they were just settling into their apartment,” said neighbor Steve Schore.
The NYPD is still looking into what led up to this incident, but the new building does have cameras around the outside, which police are hoping will aid the search for the killer.
