The NYPD is launching a new tool to improve outreach to the LGBTQIA+ community.
To coincide with Tuesday's National Coming Out Day celebrations, the NYPD announced its new LGBTGQIA+ Resource Map App to give officers the ability to provide important resources to those in crisis.
Vital services like legal or medical assistance will now be at officers' fingertips should they need to offer help to citizens in crisis.
The department says the app is part of its ongoing efforts to improve inclusivity, support and safety of LGBTQIA+ New Yorkers.
