The NYPD has arrested the man wanted for a home invasion in Coney Island.
They say Marc Malone, 50, broke into Lyubov Faynshteyn's apartment on Christmas morning.
According to police, Malone gained access into the 88-year-old's secured senior citizen home apartment and forced her to sit in her bedroom while he riffled through her belongings. Malone then punched her in the face when she attempted to get up.
Speaking mostly in Russian, Lyubov described the moment when Malone noticed she had pressed her emergency button to alert authorities. She says Malone hit her in the face again and then fled.
Police say Malone, who is from East New York, has multiple prior arrests. He has been charged with robbery, assault, burglary and criminal possession of stolen property.
Malone was walked from the Special Victims Unit on Grand Avenue Friday, and had a lot to say to those waiting outside. He blamed addiction for why he committed the crime.
"I'm hooked on drugs, that's what I have to say," Malone said to reporters. "You need to get all the drug dealers off the streets. I'm not a drug dealer."
The victim says she has been depressed and scared since the alleged attack. She suffered a fractured cheekbone.
Sources say there is typically a security guard at the building from 8 a.m. to midnight, and they are unsure how the attacker managed to get in.
