An off-duty NYPD officer was hospitalized with a gunshot wound, and authorities are now investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting.
Police say the injured officer was found in the passenger seat of a Honda Accord shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday near Wythe Avenue and Williamsburg Street in Williamsburg.
They say preliminary investigations show the gunshot may have been self-inflicted -- but reports say another person may have been in the car when shots were fired.
The officer is in stable condition at Elmhurst Hospital.
Officials say the investigation is ongoing.
