An NYPD officer has pleaded guilty to assaulting a young man in Coney Island last July.
O’Keefe Thompson has admitted to attacking Raymond Crespo.
Crespo says he could not be more relieved.
"I am thanking God," Crespo says. "God is good, He is on my side. Everything went well and it was basically how I wanted the outcome to happen."
On July 8, 2017, Crespo says Thompson attacked him on the corner of Mermaid Avenue and West 32nd Street. Crespo says Thompson thought he dropped a cup and spilled its contents near the officer's foot, causing the officer to beat him up.
As part of the guilty plea, Thompson will have to go through restorative justice, where he will meet one on one with a counselor and go through mediation with Crespo.
Thompson resigned from the police department on Monday.
