An NYPD officer shot at a Brooklyn housing project walked out of Bellevue Hospital today to a standing ovation. Officer Kevin Brennan, 28, was shot in the head Jan. 31 while chasing Luis Ortiz in Bushwick. The bullet was lodged in his skull, but doctors were able to remove it safely. "Every day, when you'd come to visit, the room was crowded," said PBA President Pat Lynch. "It was crowded with his family. You could tell where he got his strength and his determination from." Brennan has said that his wife and 2-month-old daughter inspired him to fight through the initial recovery process. He will continue to rehabilitate near his home on Long Island.
