The parents of a 3-month-old baby girl found dead alongside the Major Deegan Expressway were arrested Monday and are now facing charges.
Police have identified the baby as Genevieve Comager.
Police say the investigation started when a family member called for a wellness check on Genevieve. Officials say her parents told police where to find her body. She was found in the wooded area near West 161st Street and the Major Deegan Expressway Sunday night.
The father Damion Comager, 23, is facing murder, manslaughter and concealment of a human corpse charges. The mother, Ivana Paolozzi, 20, is facing obstructing governmental administration and concealment of a human corpse charges.
Police sources told News 12 that Comager told his father that he had shaken the baby and she had died, which had prompted Comager's father to call the Administration for Children's Services.
The NYPD says the cause of the baby's death has yet to be determined.
