The NYPD is searching for a suspect who allegedly attacked a woman in Brooklyn Heights.
Police say it happened on Tuesday just before 11 a.m., when a man approached a female and identified himself as an immigration enforcement agent.
The suspect then forced her into a stairwell where he attempted to sexually assault her. He stole her chain, cellphone and purse before fleeing down Henry Street.
Destiny Salinas, a Borough Park resident, expressed concern for something like this happening near her place of work.
“I feel like this is a pretty good neighborhood, so that’s why I’m kind of surprised," said Salinas. "But it’s also like, those types of things are happening so often now in New York City, so you literally just always have to be on the lookout. At 11 a.m., I’m almost on my lunch break by then. Imagine me just coming out to get lunch and something like that happens.”
The victim sustained scratches and bruises but is expected to recover.
Police are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
