NYPD: Suspect charged in 2021 collision that killed nanny walking with 1-year-old in Park Slope

Police say Mamadou Bathily, 70, was heading south on Fifth Avenue when he turned onto Union Avenue, striking a child and 52-year-old Arcellie Muschamp.

A suspect was recently charged in connection to the collision that killed a nanny as she crossed a Park Slope street with a 1-year-old child on Dec. 20, 2021.

Police say Mamadou Bathily, 70, was heading south on Fifth Avenue when he turned onto Union Avenue, striking a child and 52-year-old Arcellie Muschamp.

The child was not harmed, but Muschamp died as a result of her injuries. The suspect remained at the scene of the accident, according to authorities.

Police say Bathily was charged on Wednesday with failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care.
