New York state’s Cannabis Control Board on Wednesday awarded its second round of Conditional Adult-Use Retail Dispensaries license for more retail dispensaries.

The board says it provisionally approved 30 CAURD licenses, bringing the state's total to 66. It also stated it has received over 900 applications to date.

The additional licenses come after the state’s second dispensary to opened on Monday in Manhattan, which was the first to be owned by someone convicted of a prior marijuana-related offense.

"Of the CAURD licenses that were approved today, 67% would be considered minority-owned businesses, and 14 percent would be considered women-owned businesses,” the board said in a statement. “While that latter number remains low due to 90% of those arrested of marijuana offenses here in New York State in the last 40 years are men, it's a significant improvement on the first round."
