The Polytechnic Institute of New York University is expanding its reach into downtown Brooklyn. Campus officials opened the new extension today at 2 MetroTech Center, a move professors say will provide students with additional resources. "This is the future, and it's right here in MetroTech at what I'm calling 'Innovation Square,'" said NYU-Poly President Jerry Hultin. Some people that work in the area say they are looking forward to expansion, while others say they are worried about its potential effect on businesses. The spring semester starts Jan. 23.
