An off-duty EMT was stabbed to death in his apartment Sunday morning, and police say it may have been over a woman.
Jason Ruiz, 30, of 59-14 5th Ave., was stabbed twice in the torso at around 1:30 a.m., according to police. The suspect, a 25-year-old male, fled the scene after the incident, authorities say.
Ruiz lived with his common-law wife, and was a FDNY emergency medical technician, but was off duty at the time of the stabbing. Family members say Ruiz?s wife was home at the time of the attack.
Ruiz?s in-laws say he was a perfect gentleman, and his death doesn?t seem real.
?He?s a goofball. I mean, he loved to laugh just like anybody,? says Wilnelie Muniz, Ruiz?s sister-in-law. ?But definitely down to earth. And I'm just speechless. It's hard.?
