According to police, shots were fired Monday night, just after 9 p.m., on West 231 Street.

They say a 30-year-old man was shot in the head. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police refused to give News 12 an update on the victim's condition.

Multiple published reports name Jonathan Baez as the off-duty officer.

The NYPD refused to answer any of News 12's requests for confirmed information.

Police say the officer is now suspended without pay.
