Officials: 6-year-old boy dead, 32-year-old in critical condition in Mott Haven fire

Authorities say the fire has been extinguished. There is no word on how it started at this time, and the case is currently under investigation by fire marshals, according to the FDNY.

Police say a 6-year-old boy is dead, and the FDNY says a 32-year-old man is in critical condition after a fire at the Mitchel Houses in Mott Haven Friday night. 
The FDNY says it responded to a two-alarm fire at 303 E. 135 St. at around 5:15 p.m. It says a total of 25 units and 106 fire personnel were on scene Friday night. 
The FDNY says a total of 12 people were injured in the fire.
The child was pronounced dead at NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, according to the FDNY. The FDNY says the 32-year-old man is in critical condition at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln. Police say the man was found in the third-floor hallway. 
Officials say eight people were taken to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. Two firefighters were taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln with minor injuries, according to the FDNY.
