Local officials are calling on the city and state to help community centers and programs that try to keep children away from dangerous lifestyles. The plea for help comes after six were hurt in a drive-by shooting in Brownsville on Sunday.

The officials are asking for $200 million from the city and state's capital budget to help fund state-of-the-art youth centers and programs in crime ridden areas.

Many in the community agree with the call for help, saying that resources are lacking and that it is a major cause of violence in neighborhoods like Bedford-Stuyvesant, East New York and Brownsville.
