Emergency officials say a grandmother and her grandson were seriously injured today after a metal awning collapsed in Park Slope.
EMS officials say that a metal awning that sat on top of a cat clinic at Fifth Avenue and President Street fell down on a 59-year-old grandmother and her 2-year-old grandson at around 4:30 p.m. Both victims were rushed to Lutheran Medical Center.
First responders say the woman had serious head trauma and the boy may have suffered a broken leg.
The Office of Emergency Management says both victims are expected to survive.
The Department of Buildings says it's writing violations for the clinic for failure to maintain the property.
