Officials: Lounge owner fatally shot outside of his Mott Haven business

A man was fatally shot Wednesday outside of the lounge that he owned in Mott Haven, officials say.
According to the victim’s nephew, Robert Smith, 40, had opened the RMM Lounge around two weeks ago.
Smith was reportedly closing the lounge around 9:50 p.m. Wednesday when a man approached him from behind and shot him six times.
News 12 is told he suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his head and back.
Smith’s nephew told News 12 that Smith was loved by his community and lived in the Williamsbridge neighborhood. He leaves behind three sons.
An owner of a deli across the street from the lounge says that Smith was always polite and was excited about opening his new lounge.
No arrests have been made.
Police tell News 12 the gunman was wearing a red sweater.
