Officials: Man dies after suffering medical episode in Harriman State Park

The 70-year-old man was attended to by lifeguards until paramedics arrived.

Officials confirmed to News 12 a man died on Monday after suffering a medical condition at Harriman State Park in Stony Point.
They say the 70-year-old man was standing in Lake Welch when the medical episode happened here at around 1 p.m. The New York State Police and a State Parks spokesperson said the man then went to his knees near a lifeguard chair and was conscious. Lifeguards attended to him until paramedics arrived.
The man was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
"It was very frightening,” said New City’s Albert Sinodi. “We didn't know what happened, we just saw all of the lifeguards run towards the gentleman and try to help him."
State police have not released any information about the victim.
