Officials are asking for measures to increase pedestrian safety in Coney Island after the deadly terror attack in lower Manhattan on Halloween.

In letters to the mayor and NYPD commissioner, City Council members Mark Treyger and Chaim Deutsch pushed for pedestrian safety upgrades at the Coney Island boardwalk.

They're asking the city to install retractable barriers at the entry points along the boardwalk like the ones just added along the Hudson River Park bikeway.

The council members say that more than 14 million people visit the Coney Island boardwalk each year.

News 12 reached out to the Parks Department about the potential upgrades and has not yet received a response.
