The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is cracking down on places selling items with CBD.
Coffee shops and other places selling foods and drinks with CBD must get it off the menu by July 1.
Ian Ford, says he had high sales from selling CBD at his shop, the Caffeine Underground in Bushwick. He said he had lines out the door of people wanting to try it.
Cannabidiol, or CBD, is an ingredient in marijuana that does not get you high, according to Ford. He says it does help his customers feel less anxious and takes away their pain.
Ford says CBD accounts for about 12% to 15% of his business, and while it will hurt business, it’s not the end of the world for him.
He says he did not restock his orders of CBD in anticipation of the ban.

In a statement, the New York Health Department said in part, "The Health Department is responsible for promoting the safety of the food available to New Yorkers. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has advised that it is unlawful to add cannabidiol (CBD) to food or drink. We have been informing businesses in New York City that may sell food and drink about this regulation to help them achieve compliance."

The city says starting Oct. 1, it will start to issue violations for CBD foods and drinks - with fines as high as $600.
