The city Department of Transportation has opened up applications for Open Streets across the city.
The DOT is urging organizations and community-based groups to submit applications and reimagine public spaces in their communities as part of the citywide program.
The 200 Open Streets locations across the five boroughs look to provide more space for New Yorkers to walk, bike and safely enjoy outdoor activities in the heart of their community.
The application process is now open for community organizations to apply. The deadline is Jan. 31 for a street launch on or before June 30, and the deadline for after June 30 is March 1.
