Heights came out to enjoy the city's open streets.
News 12's Cecilia Hua was there on Vanderbilt Avenue.
The city's Open Streets program is starting to become a
permanent fixture in the neighborhood.
"New Yorkers love being able to reclaim the streets,”
said Hank Gutman, commissioner of the city’s Department of Transportation.
The program is a joint effort between the DOT and local
community organizations, which allows communities to embrace public spaces and
support local small businesses without being interrupted by traffic.
The Vanderbilt Avenue open street is open every Friday,
Saturday, and Sunday until Nov. 21.
