After negotiations with Optimum - the sister company of News 12 - and MSG Networks, the two sides were unable to come to a new agreement that would keep their channels on the air.
According to Optimum, MSG Networks demanded “exorbitant fees” that would result in higher rates for customers - despite the majority not watching MSG Networks’ content at all - and refused multiple offers to reach a fair deal for viewers.
According to a statement from Optimum:
Optimum has been working day and night to reach a new agreement with MSG Networks that works for our customers and their budgets. It is unfair for MSG Networks to demand more money from their viewers, especially when there are ways for fans to get games directly from MSG through other direct-to-consumer options.
Fans looking to watch their favorite teams can contact Optimum for alternate viewing solutions as the TV provider says they want to ensure fans “never have to miss a game.”
