Multiple Greenpoint businesses are facing eviction after they were given lease terminations late last week.
All businesses located inside the old factory at the corner of West Street and Greenpoint Avenue are affected and will need to leave by Nov. 30.
“I thought this would be the forever home," said Kira Igbowu, owner of Full Frontal Beauty.
Many of the shops are small businesses, the owners tell News 12 they are concerned about the cost of moving.
“Some of us are sort of month to month," said Tomas Martin, owner of Tomas Martin Jewelry. "So, trying to calculate how we relocate, how we build out a new store, how we go through all of this without actually losing our business, is the big part of it.”
Multiple owners say they considered Greenpoint their home.
“When you make the attempt to pursue your dreams and someone can pull it out from under you in less than 30 days…it’s devastating," said Igbowu.
The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce says it is leading a team to meet with the businesses and assess their individual situations.
